As we draw closer towards the finish line of 2020, the unexpected changes in our lifestyle are still affecting us. Fortunately enough, we as a nation are still motivated with the essential resources to strive past these uncertain times. Times may be tough now, but we can only grow from here on out if we remain focused.

Below is an article published by the ADAA:

Families that have children who are involved with athletics have found some ways to keep them active during the COVID-19 breakout. Some activities that include: who can run the fastest from one side of the room to the other, playing in their backyards (if they have one), or even hiding things around the house for them to find. The importance of simple games has been more appreciated than ever during these hard times. Even though a lot of local gyms have reopened over some time, there are some people (including myself) who are still weary about exercising at a public venue. Luckily we have the technology that allows us to search for at-home exercising demonstrations through video.

Stress and anxiety are issues that a vast majority of us deal with daily. Once the COVID-19 pandemic began, those issues got even harder to deal with. Some ways to cope with stress and anxiety can be simple tasks such as going for walks, watching your favorite shows/movies, at home exercises, and attempting different breathing techniques. Not only athletes, but everyone can try out these ways to help eliminate unneeded stress. Sports and exercising are a blessing that allows us to escape from reality. Although, our sports goals and aspirations have been temporarily limited, but creations of working around them are limitless. An example of this can be organizing scheduled Zoom meetings with workout friends or teammates to exercise or talk about routines together. Also, another way to exercise or practice from home is to use the space around you to your advantage. Spread out a mat to stretch, order dumbbells, work on push-ups/sit-ups, and even take a jog around your neighborhood.

The main objective when partaking in sports activities or exercising is “reaching your highest goal” aka winning. Right now, a goal for all is to work around these difficult circumstances and creating new ways to stay active and healthy. Change is inevitable, but as a society we must come together to strive and find new ways to battle against uncertainties.
