After days upon days awaiting the final results from the 2020 Presidential Election, the American people can rejoice knowing that their votes have all been collected and processed. The United States declared former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. the winner of the race, only to remove former President Donald J. Trump from the White House. The final results were reported by ABC News during the early afternoon EST on Saturday November 7th. President-Elect Joe Biden has strong support pushing behind him, including some well-known professional athletes.

The 2020 Presidential Election has brought a lot of high tensions and stress within our lives, and only to add more to those uncomfortable feelings is the COVID-19 pandemic playing a role in society. But if there is a way to implement change moving forward, using our voices by casting our ballots on election day is a step in the right direction. Some widely known professional athletes, such as NBA superstar LeBron James and NFL rising-star Patrick Mahomes, have made their voices heard to the public on these important matters. By having these professional athletes address the issues we are currently facing in this country and tell the American citizens to go out and vote is huge. Both James and Mahomes are role models for so many citizens of the U.S., and by seeing them take action will only promote promise to those who value them.

Below is an article published by USA Today:

Having the right to vote is not only a privilege as a U.S. citizen, it is most certainly an honor. As the country has now elected a new President at helm, there will be steps leading towards change. Some of those changes can impact the world of sports. One change that has been President-Elect Biden’s main concern throughout his campaign is the response to COVID-19. In efforts to slow down the rapid growth of the virus, the President-Elect will strive towards allowing fans back into stadiums next year. Another major change will be championship organizations attending White House ceremonies. This has been a dilemma since President Trump was sworn into office. Many organizations overlooked the idea of accepting the invitation to attend the ceremony because of the feud between the Republican party and many professional athletes.
